Film and Discussion Series to Address Early Childhood Development

Brunswick, ME – The Our Health: Film and Discussion Series continues on June 28 at Frontier Cinema and Café in Brunswick. Offered jointly by Mid Coast Hospital and Access Health, the next film, “The Raising of America” will screen at 7:00 p.m., followed by a discussion about early childhood development in the Midcoast region. The event is free and open to the public.

The Raising of America Series is a five-part documentary series that explores the questions: Why are so many children in America faring so poorly? What are the consequences for the nation’s future? How might we, as a nation, do better? The Signature Hour interweaves discoveries from neuroscience with the stories of families and communities struggling to provide the nurturing environments all babies and young children need to thrive.

Thomas M. Kivler, LCPC, CCS, Senior Director of Behavioral Health at Mid Coast–Parkview Health; Deborah Q. Hagler, MD, Pediatrician at Martin’s Point Health Care; and Peter V. Lindsay, Director of Community Impact/Success By 6 at United Way of Mid Coast Maine will lead the audience in discussion directly following the film.

The film series continues throughout the year, featuring films that shine a spotlight on important health topics for the Midcoast region. For upcoming films and to reserve seats, visit: www.explorefrontier.com/schedule/film.
