The evenings are drawing in all over Maine and what better way to begin the fall season than with an evening of classical music! John Reinhardt, bass-baritone, and Sean Fleming, piano-forte, will present the musical masterpieces of Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, and Robert Schumann at St. Patrick Church at 380 Academy Hill Road in Newcastle, on Friday evening, Oct. 7 at 7:30.

Mr. Fleming will perform the “Impromptu in A-flat Major,” “Op. 142, No. 2” by Franz Schubert and the “Intermezzo in A Major, Op. 118, No. 2” by Johannes Brahms. Mr. Reinhardt will sing “An die Musik” and “Der Wanderer” by Schubert, and lieder by Brahms of “Auf dem Kirchhofe” and “Wie bist du meine Konigin.”

In the second half of the program, both performers combine their musical artistry in Robert Schumann’s towering musical masterpiece, “Dicterliebe,” a cycle of 16 songs based on poems by Heinrich Heine.
