Community Calendar

Join Maine Master Naturalist Jeff Pengel to explore the ferns of the Cathance River Nature Preserve. Jeff will emphasize the natural history, ecology, and unique biology of the ferns and allies we encounter. He will also give identification tips for the various species encountered.

Be sure to wear comfortable walking/hiking gear. Cameras welcome!

Jeff Pengel was trained as a botanist and geologist at the University of Akron. Jeff taught earth science and biology in an urban Cincinnati Ohio public school. He also worked many seasons as an outdoor educator for Nature’s Classroom in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He now volunteers as a naturalist for the AMC at many of their facilities. He is a Maine Master Naturalist instructor and actively volunteers for that program and at many Maine land trusts.
