The Conservation of Fort St George Artifacts 7:00 PM Bath Freight Shed, 27 Commercial Street or via Zoom , Bath, Maine

A Maine’s First Ship Live Zoom Presentation

This session explores the art and science of archaeological object conservation featuring 1607-08 Fort St. George objects. Fort St. George was the site of the Popham Colony, located at the mouth of the Kennebec River in what is now known as Phippsburg, Maine. Archeological explorations were done there from 1994 to 2013.

Molly O’Guinness Carlson is a Fellow level member of the American Institute for the Advancement in Conservation and its associated Foundation (AIC-FAIC) and has been a practicing conservator since 1990. She opened her own laboratory in 2001 and reformed it as Head Tide Archaeological Conservation Laboratory, LLC, in 2016. Molly has a special fondness for wet-site and coastal terrestrial object conservation projects such as objects from Greenland, Boon Island, and Malaga Island. She also works with fine art object conservation for museums, historical societies, and private clients.
