Join us on Thursday, July 21st, 2022 for an evening with Sam Sifton, founding editor of New York Times Cooking & Assistant Managing Editor of the New York Times, and Christine Burns Rudalevige, Editor-in-Chief of edible MAINE and author of Green Plate Special.

Ticket sales for this event support Curtis' No Fines/No Late Fees Equitable Borrowing Program, which increases access to library resources and services by eliminating the financial barriers overdue fees create. In 2019, the American Library Association amended their policy manual, stating that the "imposition of monetary library fines creates a barrier to the provision of library and information services.” In keeping with the professional standard set by the ALA, as well as our own commitment to social equity, Curtis started our Fine-Free program in the Spring of 2020.

Eliminating library overdue fees improves access for everyone, particularly children and low-income patrons. It also improves the return rate of overdue materials and redirects staff time to programs and services instead of to fine collection.

Your support of Curtis helps offset the expense incurred by this policy change and ensures access for all in the years to come. We welcome any additional donations toward this mission.

About the event:
The event will be held outside under a tent -- rain or shine -- in the Union Street parking lot. Parking can be found next door at St. Paul's and at St. John's across the street.
