How Maine's Warming Winters Affect Our Forests 7:00 PM Cathance River Education Alliance (CREA) - Virtual Event , Topsham, ME

This is a FREE VIRTUAL EVENT | Registration is required to attend.

We all love the majestic trees that populate 90% of Maine – the most forested state in the nation. Trees thrive here, so it’s clear that Maine’s forests are well adapted to extreme cold, deep snow, and a short growing season. Join us to learn about these elegant adaptations, along with new information about how warming winters pose challenges to our trees, soils, and the associated systems (microbial and fungal) that support them.

We can all learn more about how climate change is affecting the plants, creatures, and natural systems that support and delight us. Join us to learn more about the status of the forests that are so emblematic of our state, and hopefully be inspired to do more to roll back climate change.

Our presenters are University of Maine professors Jay Wason III and Ivan Fernandez of the School of Forest Resources, sharing insights gleaned from their work.
