Maine's First Ship Summer Lecture Series 2023
Capt. Eric Speth, Director of Maritime Operations at the Jamestown Settlement Museum, presents:
"The Re-created 17th Century Jamestown Ship Godspeed: Research, Design, and Construction"
Join MFS at the Bath Freight Shed, 27 Commercial Street in Bath, or via Zoom to hear about the $2million+ project using the best possible historical sources to design a re-creation of the Godspeed, one of three ships that in 1607 carried English settlers into Chesapeake Bay to establish Jamestown. Rockport Marine (Maine) was awarded the construction contract and produced a vessel historically accurate yet fitted with modern necessities.
Capt. Speth holds a U.S. Coast Guard Master’s license for 1600-ton Ocean Auxiliary Sail vessels and serves as master of Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery.
