Why College Matters: College Options in Southern Midcoast Maine

Please join us on Thursday, June 2 from 2:30 to 4 pm at the Midcoast Center for Higher Education, 9 Park Street, Bath for an update on local access to college resources. The session is designed as an informal opportunity to exchange information, provide updates, share resources and answer questions. Bob Weimont, SMCC; Bo Yerxa, SNHU; Bryan Wallace, CMCC; and I will facilitate the meeting. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP by Friday, May 26 by emailing unger@maine.edu

Please share this meeting invitation with others. We are hoping to attract a wide representation of adult education faculty and staff, school counselors, work force development professionals, representatives from business and industry, non-profits and anyone else who is striving to increase the rate of college degree attainment in our region.

This session is a follow-up to the most recent Midcoast Skilled Workers Forum, during which we committed to creating a single source listing of our region’s higher education resources. Our goal was to produce a document that could be easily updated, shared in an attractive print format, posted on websites and shared electronically. I have attached a copy of our first version of “Why College Matters” as a PDF. Please consider how you may be able to help us share this by posting the document on your website and circulating this to colleagues and prospective students. We will also look to you for feedback for future improvements to this document.
