Henry and Marty Restaurant Previewing New Work by Sculptor John Bisbee 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM 61 Maine St. , Brunswick, Maine

Henry and Marty Restaurant and Catering invite the public to view new work by Brunswick-based sculptor and Bowdoin College adjunct art lecturer John Bisbee. Restaurant owners Paul Hollingsworth and Aaron Park commissioned this large-scale installation for their Maine Street eatery.

The untitled piece is nearly 8ft x 20ft and can be viewed at this special event on Monday, May 7, 5-7:00PM.  John Bisbee will be in attendance to answer questions and speak about his new work.  The restaurant will be closed for dinner service during the event with a cash bar available.

Well known for his forged nail sculptures, the installation at Henry & Marty Restaurant marks a new direction for Bisbee.  For this new piece, Bisbee burned planes of wood with branding irons forged from bright common nails. Henry and Marty Restaurant is among the first locations where Bisbee’s new work is available for public view.

Select sculptures from Bisbee’s Icon series are currently featured at the restaurant and will remain on exhibit during the May 7th event. Since acquiring Henry and Marty Restaurant and Catering in 2007, Park and Hollingsworth have been committed to featuring work by local artists in their restaurant, including Arlene Morris, Mark Wethli, and Cassie Jones as well hand blown light fixtures by Tandem Glass based in Dresden, Maine.
