Special | Purr and Caw: Talking About Species 7:00 PM Frontier Cafe, Fort Andross , Brunswick, Maine

It used to be that the earth and all of its glory was celebrated on one day, April 22nd, "Earth Day". Fortunately our society in general has grown to have a less compartmentalized appreciation for the natural wonders of the earth. Spring, which has come early to Maine this year, is a time when our senses reawaken to all the living things around us, especially ones that have gone dormant for the winter, died back, or completely left the state. For the past two years, Spindleworks and Arts Are Elementary have been bringing this awareness and celebration to a community level through the now annual All Species Parade. Last year's Aviary exhibit held at Frontier added to the celebration, as visitors marveled at the flock of winged creatures perching at Frontier for most of the summer. This year as well as an accompanying exhibit, A Natural Order, Spindleworks and Arts Are Elementary will host a spoken word evening to give voice to our appreciation, and further extending the season of celebration. Purr and Caw: Talking about Species will be an evening of poetry and song at Frontier Cafe, surrounded by the Natural Order exhibit . Members of the community are welcome to be part of the event by reading or singing work in the theme of species. Those interested should contact Liz McGhee at Spindleworks 725-8820 or emcghee@iaofmaine.org
