Anyone can sign up for “Capturing June in the Gardens;” an exceptional photography workshop with instructor Rich Pomerantz from 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12. The fee is $100 for members and $120 for non-members, and pre-registration is required.

         In this workshop, Connecticut-based photographer Rich Pomerantz will teach participants how to capture the beauty and form in a garden setting with available light, flash, and reflectors and how to look for the essential elements in a garden and translate them into beautiful, compelling imagery.

         Most of the time will be spent shooting outdoors, and there will also be a designated period to download imagery and review work indoors in the Bosarge Family Education Center.  Pomerantz’ critique is one of the most popular parts of his workshops, and class size is strictly limited so participants will have his personal attention. Those who attend should bring their camera and its manual, a charged battery, storage cards, and lenses, as well as appropriate clothing and lunch.

         Rich Pomerantz’s garden photography has appeared in fine magazines, catalogues, and ads in the U.S. and abroad. He has taught garden photography at botanical gardens throughout the Northeast and Midwest and at his Connecticut studio. His website, www.richpomerantz.com showcases his garden, portrait and shelter photography. His blog was named by Horticulture Magazine as one of 2011’s best gardening blogs, and he has written three books: Great Gardens of the Berkshires, Hudson River Valley Farms, and Wild Horses of the Dunes.
