Dennis Unger, director of University College at Bath/Brunswick, announces a Veterans Resource Fair being held collaboratively among Southern Maine Community College, University College at Bath/Brunswick, and University of Maine at Augusta. On Monday, October 22, between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., active military personnel, veterans and their family members are welcome to visit the center to tour the Department of Veterans Affairs Maine Mobile Vet Center bus and meet center as well as Veterans Services staff. Current faculty and students will also be available to answer questions.

Amy Line, UMA Coordinator of Veteran Support Services, Navy veteran, UMA alumna and Bath faculty, will be available for questions. "We are committed to serving our military, veterans, and family members at our Centers," said Line. "Bringing the Mobile Vet Center and other resources provides an opportunity for veterans to gather resources, seek benefits and meet with other veterans in their own community."

Charles Gilbertson, a UMA Veteran Peer Mentor who is in the bachelor of science in justice studies program with a computer information systems minor and has taken classes at both the Augusta campus and at the Bath center states, “The veteran peer mentoring program at Bath/Brunswick, UMA, and all associated sites is a program to help veterans become acclimated to the schooling process instead of the military process. Veterans can just get ahold of me or Amy Line at amy.line@maine.edu if they need help with anything.”

Representatives from other organizations serving veterans in the local community will also attend. Refreshments will be served. The Fair will be held at the Midcoast Center for Higher Education at 9-11 Park Street in Bath. Advance sign-up is requested; call 1-800-696-2329 or 442-7736.
