Strategic Business Planning is a Waste of Time!

It is that time of year when most business consultants will tell you that you should do your strategic business plan.  UGH!!!  Is it a waste of time?  The answer is yes if:

• It is a 50 page report that includes everything imaginable including what color you are going to paint the bathroom.
• It takes too much time to do.
•  You can’t get partner/employee buy -in.
•  it is not adaptable,
• It is not measurable; otherwise you have a prayer and not a plan.

In fact an effective Strategic Business Plan significantly improves your chances of success.  It becomes your roadmap in which you can judge your progress against your destination (goals).
