The Sidwell Art Gallery is having a ribbon cutting ceremony, Tuesday July 19th at 5pm to celebrate the reopening of the gallery for the summer season.
The gallery is in a one hundred year old cottage in West Point, with spectacular views of the harbor and out to the islands in Casco Bay.It features oil paintings by Felicity Sidwell. The waves, rocks, beaches and harbors of Maine's midcoast region, and the changing colors of the salt marsh near her Brunswick home.

Felicity grew up in England, and came to the US with her husband in the early 1970s. When visa problems prevented her from continuing her career in microbiology, she was able to pursue her love of art, and studied painting at Silvermine School of Art, in New Canaan CT.
Felicity moved from oils to watercolors while her children were young, and won awards with them in Connecticut.
Now her children are grown, Felicity has been able to develop her own style in oils.

Felicity fell in love with Maine after visiting a friend in Bath one October. At first it was a summer cottage, and now she and her husband enjoy living here year round.

To reach the gallery: take 209 south of Bath for about 10 miles.
At Sebasco Road turn right
Take the second left, West Point Road
At the end, in two miles, the road becomes one way at Wallace circle.
Go right on Wallace Circle to the bottom of the hill,
