Day’s Jewelers is proud to announce the grand opening celebration of their new jewelry store located at Topsham Fair Mall. The two day event will be held on Friday May 1^st and on Saturday May 2^nd. A ribbon cutting by the South Mid-Coast Maine Chamber of Commerce at 5:00 PM on Friday will launch an evening celebration honoring the more than 100 professional carpenters, electricians, painters, plumbers and other local people responsible for constructing and finishing the magnificent new store. The 4 month construction project was supervised by Ouellet Associates of Brunswick and was built out almost exclusively with local trade professionals.

Day’s Topsham store is 5,400 square feet making it nearly four times larger than the average jewelry store in the US. The showroom features a children’s play area, refreshment bar and a guest lounge. “We designed the store as a place where our guests will feel as comfortable as they would in their own home.” states Jim Corey owner of the Day’s Jewelers chain and also Manager of the new store. Corey adds, “It’s a store the entire family can appreciate. Mom can enjoy shopping and trying on beautiful and unique jewelry from more than 30 different designers while her kids have fun in the play area and her husband sits back watching the football game sipping his favorite beverage.”

Jim Corey adds, “We invite everyone in the community to stop by anytime on Friday or Saturday to enjoy a complimentary beverage and hors d’oeuvres and experience live music from Isaiah Bennett. We’re giving away special gift bags to the first 100 guests each day. We’ll also have drawings every half hour for some very special jewelry gifts from our suppliers. We’re very fortunate to be located among some of the best retail stores in the State here in the Topsham Fair Mall.”

The Grand Opening will also feature representatives and expanded lines from several watch and jewelry brands including Chamilia, Reactor, Seiko, Citizen, Ed Levin, Forevermark, and Denny Wong.  Also featured will be a special collection of exquisite colored gemstone jewelry from the Philip Zahm collection. Martin Key, a talented professional jeweler will be demonstrating gemstone cutting from noon till 5:00 on Saturday.

Kathy Corey, Jim Corey’s Sister-in-law and Day’s co-owner worked closely with the architect and store designer. Kathy stated, “Being so close to the Maine Coast, I wanted the store to have a nautical feel. We created a floor medallion in the shape of a mariner’s compass rose at the entrance of the store made of hundreds of mosaic tiles. Our children’s play area is an “under the sea” motif with several magnetic sea creatures that children are able to move from place to place on the fully magnetic wall graphic. Jewelry Designer Denny Wong designed 14 karat gold lobster pendant with moveable appendages exclusively to celebrate the Topsham store’s grand opening.” 

Day’s closed its Brunswick store at Merrymeeting Plaza at the end of February and opened the new Topsham store a week later. Day’s Topsham store employs several professionals with a combined total of more than 100 years in the jewelry business. The store features a full service jewelry repair department. The store also provides many other services including engraving, pearl stringing, ear piercing, professional jewelry appraisal, watch repairs and battery replacement.
