Health Career Scholarships Available for Local Students
Applications for Herb Paris Health Career Scholarships will be accepted January 15 – April 15, 2021

Brunswick, ME – Applications are now open for the Herb Paris Health Career Scholarship, available to high school students and non-traditional students in our local area who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.

The scholarship program sponsors Midcoast area students attending college, technical colleges, or other technical training. Each year the Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary awards approximately $40,000 in Herb Paris Health Career Scholarships to deserving students. The Scholarship Committee receives more than 30 applications each year, and through a very selective screening process, selects which students to support.

Eligible applicants must plan to pursue an education at an accredited institution and major in a program that will lead to a healthcare career, with the exception of Pre-Med and Biology majors. In order to be considered, all applications and required documents must be submitted to the Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary by April 15, 2021.

“Over the course of the past year, we have been repeatedly reminded of the importance of well-trained front-line healthcare professionals,” said Joan Shea, Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary President. “The Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary is grateful to be able to support and encourage those interested in entering such a honorable career.”

Grant amounts for the Herb Paris Health Career Scholarship range from $500 to $2,000, and students can potentially receive the scholarship for up to four years. To continue receiving the funds, however, students must maintain a grade standard and submit reports each semester, including course listings and transcripts.

This funding is made possible through the hard work and dedication of the Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary, which raises several thousands of dollars to support Mid Coast Hospital’s mission each year through various fundraisers.
