Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP) has announced the Maine launch of the
2024 Survey on Nonprofit Wages and Benefits. Survey results will inform the
biennial Maine Nonprofit Wages and Benefits Report, which will be published in the
fall of 2024, and is the only Maine-specific resource for nonprofit organizations
seeking objective salary information and insights into key staffing and
compensation trends.

“MANP is dedicated to providing nonprofits with tools and resources to attract and
retain talent to their missions, as well as using our unique position to influence
more inclusive and equitable hiring processes in the sector,” says Jennifer Hutchins,
MANP’s executive director. “More than a third of our members name recruiting and
retaining staff as a top challenge, not to mention the significant number of
leadership transitions that are taking place."

Maine’s charitable nonprofits employ 100,000 people, approximately 1 in 6 workers,
contributing more than $14 billion per year to the economy.

The survey is open to all 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), 501(c)5, or 501(c)(6) and nonprofits
of all sizes and missions are encouraged to participate. The more responses
received, the more robust and representative data set in the final report.

Participating nonprofits receive significant savings on the cost of the final report,
which will be published in the fall. MANP members who complete the survey receive
a free copy of the report.

“The nonprofit sector in Maine provides so many of the programs and services that
make our communities whole and livable,” says Linda Nelson, MANP board member
and Economic & Community Development Director for the Town of Stonington.
“Participating in this survey helps contribute to a better understanding of local
workforce, hiring and compensation trends.”

The survey is conducted every two years in partnership with Common Good
Vermont and New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits. This year’s Maine survey and
report are sponsored by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Lebel & Harriman Retirement
Advisors, ProSearch, UST Nonprofit Workforce Solutions, and KMA Human
Resources Consulting.

The Nonprofit Wages and Benefits Survey will be open through May 24, 2024. For
