Maine Maritime Museum Reopening June 2

Maine Maritime Museum is excited to announce that we will be reopening to the public on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Museum staff have been preparing the 20-acre campus in accordance with all guidelines from the state of Maine and developing fun new ways for guests to experience Maine’s maritime culture.

“We know people have been missing the museum, and we have been missing you too! We are grateful for the support we’ve received from friends near and far, and we’re so excited to open our doors and welcome everyone back. We are fortunate to have acres of outdoor space for our visitors to explore, and with 2020 being Maine’s bicentennial, it’s the perfect time to come discover our state’s maritime history,” said Katie Spiridakis, marketing and communications manager.

To accommodate physical distancing guidelines, certain exhibits and spaces will be temporarily closed, and guided tours have been suspended. A new audio tour that is accessible via mobile device will guide visitors through the historic Percy & Small Shipyard. Visitor favorites such as Into the Lantern: A Lighthouse Experience, Lobstering & the Maine Coast, and the historic Percy and Small Shipyard buildings will be open with guidelines in place to encourage physical distancing. New this year, visitors can enjoy a range of traditional skills demonstrations outside in the shipyard, from blacksmithing, to boatbuilding, to nautical carving. Visit our website to learn more about what to expect during your visit: https://www.mainemaritimemuseum.org/welcome-back/

During this time, the museum is offering reduced admission: $10 for adults and seniors; $8 kids 6-12, FREE for kids 6 and under. To expedite the check-in process, admission tickets can be bought online in advance. Two arrival time slots are available: morning (9:30 am-12 pm) and afternoon (1 pm to 3:30 pm). Tickets are available here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/general-admission-tickets-106980220720

According to state guidelines, the museum is not permitted to offer cruises at this time. We anticipate beginning the cruise season on July 1. Updates will be posted on our website as they become available.

Museum staff encourages guests to join them in following all recommended guidelines, including wearing face coverings. We appreciate your patience, thank you!
